TEMPE, AZ - The Cypress College Men's and Women's Tennis Teams both earned ITA All Academic Team Awards from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association - the governing body of collegiate tennis. Seven Men's players and two Women's Players also earned Scholar-Athlete Awards. Cypress College's Men's and Women's Tennis teams are two of the 22 teams recognized nation wide by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for their academic success.
The Men's Tennis Team had an overall team GPA of 3.68 for the academic year. To be receive the ITA All-Academic Team award the team must have an overall GPA of 3.2 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the academic year. Also, seven Men's Tennis Players were awarded Scholar-Athlete Awards for achieving a GPA of 3.5 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the academic year.
The Women's Tennis Team also earned the ITA All-Academic Team Award with an overall Team GPA of 3.31. Two Lady Chargers earned Scholar Athlete awards as well for their hard work in the classroom.
"I'm very proud of both teams for all of their hard work both on the court and in the classroom. This is a great group of young adults who really value their roll as student-athletes."
