#6 Chargers Defeat Shorthanded Orange Coast, 3-0

CYPRESS, CA- The Cypress women's soccer team (13-1-2, 8-1-2 OEC) hosted the Orange Coast Pirates (6-10-1, 1-8 OEC) on Tuesday afternoon. Orange Coast was shorthanded with only eleven players as the Chargers took advantage and earned a 3-0 victory. 

Sylvia Quintero was controlling the ball for Cypress today as she was active on the offensive end. Quintero distributed the ball well as she led the team with two assists on the day. Kylee Castro, Lucia Yanez, and Brianna Cortez found the back of the net for the Chargers as they dominanted the offensive attack. Goalkeeper's Siriana Gudino and Jade Bernardo protected the Cypress net, earning the eleventh shutout for the Chargers on the season. 

The first goal of the game came in the 28th minute off the foot of Lucia Yanez. Yanez found the top left corner of the goal from 25 yards out off of a pass from Sylvia Quintero. Yanez's goal was her fourth of the season, but could qualify as the goal of the year. In the 32nd minute Kylee Castro finished opportunity inside the eighteen yard box to put Cypress up, 2-0. Brianna Cortez (39') dribbled across the top of the eighteen to finish her team leading sixteenth goal of the season. The Chargers coasted in the second half deafeating OCC, 3-0. 

UP NEXT: Cypress will be back on the road this Friday when they travel to Santa Ana College to face the Dons. The match will kickoff at 3pm.
