No. 3 Chargers Tie No. 12 Fullerton in OEC Battle, 1-1

CYPRESS, CA - The Cypress College women's soccer team (10-0-2, 4-0-2 OEC) remains undefeated with a draw against crosstown rival Fullerton (8-2-2, 3-1-2 OEC), 1-1. The result keeps the Lady Chargers atop the Orange Empire Conference, while Fullerton hangs on to the third spot.

During the first half, both teams played hard to get on the board before the break. The Hornets took an early lead, opening up the scoring in the 26th minute. Hornets' Reina Sanchez-Molina took a shot from 30 yards out that went over the outstretched arms Cypress keeper Violet Martin.

After some good looks by the Chargers, Kelly Lopez tied it up right before halftime off a free kick from teammate, Hunter Richmond. The intensity grew as both teams went into halftime all tied up.

In the second half of play, things got physical between the two rivals as they battled for an OEC victory. To start the half, the Chargers dominated the ball with several shots on goal by Audree Campos and Richmond. After Cypress went down two players, the Hornets had some good looks themselves, but neither team could break the tie.

The Cypress women's soccer team will look to continue their streak at home against Irvine Valley at 3:00pm next Tuesday.
