Chargers Outpace Pirates on Home Field, 3-1

CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College women's soccer team (9-6-4, 7-4-3 OEC) successfully defended their home field on Tuesday afternoon, earning a 3-1 victory over the visiting Orange Coast College Pirates (5-8-5, 4-7-3 OEC).

The Chargers got things going quickly, taking a 1-0 lead in the opening minute of the first half. Morgan Patea sped past the Pirates defense and sent a ball across the box to Audree Campos for the game's opening goal.

OCC responded with an equalizer in the 19th minute, before Patea found the back of the net on a well-played ball from Nicolle Valdez to take a 2-1 lead before halftime.

The Chargers' defense played much better in the second half, led by a few athletic one-on-one defensive plays from Jordan Barber. Valdez would add to the Cypress lead on a Briana Ramirez assisted goal in the 59th minute, as the Chargers went on to win, 3-1.

Cypress women's soccer will return to conference action on the road against the Santa Ana College Dons on Friday, November 2 at 3:00 pm. The Lady Chargers will wrap up regular season play at home against Golden West on Tuesday, November 6 at 3:00 pm.
