Chargers take victory over Rustlers, 2-1

Cypress, CA – Cypress College Women's Soccer team (7-4-2, 6-1-2 OEC) finished Friday's game with a 2-1 victory over the Golden West Rustlers (3-6-4, 2-7 OEC).

Golden West started off the game strong, with a goal by Rachel McClure, putting them ahead 1-0 (8:23). The Chargers fought back hard, and with a shot from Margaret Zisk being saved by Rustlers goalie Taylor Vanis, KristIn Avila came in for the rebound to score a goal, tying the game 1-1 (29:54).

In the second half, the Chargers came out strong, with a shot attempt by Zisk which was saved by Rustlers goalie. Just a couple short minutes later, Renae Francis sent a deep kick toward the goal and Erica Tobias scored to bring the Chargers ahead 2-1 (53:41). The Rustlers picked up their defense toward the end, with several attempts to score that were saved by Chargers' goalie Tabatha Macedo.

Women's soccer will continue OEC play on the road next Tuesday against Norco. Kick-off is scheduled at 3:00 pm.
