Freiling Chooses Salem International University

CYPRESS, Calif. – Women's soccer standout Kelsea Freiling has accepted a scholarship offer from Salem International University, where she will continue her soccer career next season. SIU, located in West Virginia, is a member of the Eastern College Athletic Conference at the NCAA Division II level. "I want to come in to next season as a leader and win some games. That's all I'm looking to do," said Freiling.

The All-Orange Empire Conference First Team selection had a tremendous sophomore season with the Chargers. Offensively, Freiling netted 5 goals and contributed 1 assist. She started every game for Cypress this season and anchored a strong backline, which only allowed 13 goals in conference play. The Chargers finished second in the Orange Empire Conference with a 13-3-6 overall record and 10-1-5 record in OEC play. "Playing at Cypress taught me to just always work hard no matter what I'm going to do or who I'm going up against."

Kelsea will major in kinesiology while attending SIU and is hoping to start a career as a physician's assistant after graduation.
