Freshman women's basketball standout, Jessica Barrow, earned her first career Charger of the Week award for her performance this weekend in the Lady Charger Classic. Barrow is the first member of the women's basketball team to earn the award this season.
The Sunny Hills alumna led the Chargers to two wins and a third place crown in the 36th annual Lady Charger Classic. Cypress picked up commanding wins over Compton and El Camino, but fell to East Los Angeles in an overtime semi-finals loss.
Barrow was a huge part of the Charger's success leading the team in scoring all three games. The forward averaged 20.3 points and 9.3 rebounds in the tournament. She shot 57% from the field in the third place game and notched her fifth 20+ point performance to begin the new season.
Women's basketball will return to action Tuesday, Dec. 17th when the open up the Grossmont College Tournament against Grossmont at 5:00pm.
