Lady Chargers Defeat Coast, 79-55; Set for Friday Showdown With Lasers for OEC Title

COSTA MESA, CA – The Cypress College women's basketball team (19-8, 11-2 OEC) took care of business against the Pirates at Orange Coast College (2-21, 2-8 OEC) on Wednesday night, 79-55. The Charger victory sets up a showdown at Irvine Valley College for a shot at an outright Orange Empire Conference Championship on Friday night.

Cypress came out flat in the first quarter of Wednesday night's game against the Pirates, before putting together a strong performance in the final three quarters to secure themselves a shot at an outright OEC Title.

Freshman guard Pressila Blanco led the Chargers with a team-high 14 points and 4 assists. Sophomore center Nicole Miller added 13 points and 15 rebounds off the bench for her fifth double-double of the season.

The Lady Chargers can now shift their focus to securing a win over the Lasers for their fourth consecutive Orange Empire Conference Title. Cypress bested IVC in their first matchup of the season, 74-58, but this time the Chargers will have to get it done on the Lasers' home floor. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00pm.
