Cypress Clinches OEC Title with Sweep Over Golden West
Cypress caps off 31-win campaign with statement victory to finish atop the Orange Empire Conference standings
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – The Cypress College Softball team secured the 2025 Orange Empire Conference (OEC) title with a 6-1 victory over Golden West on Thursday afternoon, completing a pivotal series sweep to close out the regular season.
With the win, the Chargers finish the regular season 31-9 overall and 15-3 in conference, tying with Orange Coast College for the best conference record and earning a share of the OEC Championship.
Needing a win to claim a piece of the crown, Cypress came out aggressive, scoring in each of the first three innings to build a 5-0 lead. Makayla Motis set the tone early with a sacrifice fly in the first, then added a triple and a stolen base as part of her 2-for-3 performance. Carly Parmenter and Mickayla Galaviz each added RBI triples and singles, while Madylyn Wynia drove in two more with a key base hit in the third.
Pitcher Haley Tucker turned in a complete-game gem, allowing just one run on seven hits with five strikeouts and no walks to earn the win.
Cypress swept every conference series this year, including key wins over Saddleback, Fullerton, and Orange Coast, to claim their share of the conference crown. The team now turns its attention to the postseason, where they look to make a deep run toward another state title.
UP NEXT: The 3C2A Softball Playoff brackets will be announced this weekend, with Cypress expected to host the first round.
