CYPRESS, CA- Chargers Softball (33-12) will host the Palomar Comets (33-7) in a best-of-three series beginning on Friday, May 13th. First pitch will be at 2pm Friday and 12pm on Saturday with a third game following game two if necessary.
The Chargers and Comets split a two game series at Cypress College earlier this season. The Comets took down Cypress in game one, 6-1, but the Chargers bounced back with a 3-1 win in game two. Historically, Cypress holds a (49-41-1) record over Palomar in their 91 games played. The Comets have had one of their most successful seasons in recent years as they have finished in the top 5 in multiple categories across California. The Palomar bats ranked 5th in average (.366), RBI (273), and hits (403). They also ranked 1st in runs allowed (52) and were 4th in ERA (1.12). Cypress on the other hand ranked #6 in hits (395) and #8 in triples (18). Emily Rush has led the pitching unit for Cypress with a team ERA of 2.39 along with individual ERA of 1.82.
