Chargers Take Down Rival Fullerton in 5 Innings, 9-1

CYPRESS, CA- Cypress softball (18-4, 8-2 OEC) hosted the Fullerton Hornets (11-10, 6-4 OEC) in an OEC matchup on Tuesday afternoon. The Chargers took care of business in five innings as they defeated the Hornets 9-1. 

Camryn Addimando (2-for-4) was one the many hot bats for Cypress as she led the team in RBI's with 4. Paige Shafer (2-for-2, 2B) and Alyssa Huerta (1-for-3) each drove in two more runs. Emily Rush pitched 4.1 innings of 3 hit softball as she struck out four batters and allowed 0 earned runs. 

Fullerton struck first \ as Olivia Nunez singled to center field putting the Hornets up 1-0. Cypress would answer quickly in the bottom half of the first with a double by Paige Shafer and single by Camryn Addimando to reclaim the lead, 2-1. The Chargers would explode in the second inning after the first three batters reached base safely loading up the bags with 0 outs. Cypress would go on to score 5 runs on 5 hits in the inning to take a commanding 7-1 lead. Addimando extended the lead to 8 runs after a two run double to center field in the 4th inning. Pitcher, Isabella Savala, finished off the final two Fullerton batters to give Cypress the 9-1 victory. 

UP NEXT: Cypress will be back on their home diamond tomorrow, March 23, as they play host to the Saddleback Bobcats. First pitch will be at 2pm.
