CYPRESS, CA- The Cypress Chargers (12-3, 5-1 OEC) hosted the Cerritos Falcons (14-5) on Saturday afternoon. The Chargers were poised for a good performance coming off their first OEC loss of the season to Santa Ana College one day prior (3/4). Eliza Sandoval shined against Cerritos leading Cypress to a 6-3 victory. 

Eliza Sandoval (4.1 IP) got the start in the circle for Cypress, but did her damage in the batter's box going 3-for-3 with 3 RBI's and 1 run scored. Sandoval was a homerun short of the cycle, but she was not the only Charger who hit for extra bases. Paige Shafer (1-for-3) tripled in two runs, while Emily Rush (2-for-3, 1 RBI) and Alyssa Huerta (1-for-3) doubled in the game. Rush pitched the final 2.2 innings for Cypress giving up 1 hit, 0 runs, and striking out 3. 

The Chargers got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning. Jordan Thompson scored the first run of the game off of a single by Emily Rush. Up next, Eliza Sandoval, sent a ball to the left field wall scoring Rush. Shafer made a positive ground out scoring Sandoval from third base and putting Cypress up 3-0. The Falcons would tie up the game tacking on three runs between the second and third innings. Brooklyn Bedolla (2-for-3 HR) was responsible for all three Falcon's RBI's. 

Eliza Sandoval drove in runs in the bottom of the third and fourth innings to put Cypress up 5-3. Paige Shafer's triple would be the final run of the game as she knocked in Emily Rush for the second time. The fifth, sixth, and seventh inning would go scoreless as Cypress would go on to win 6-3. 

UP NEXT: Cypress will face Riverside College in another OEC matchup on Wednesday, March 9th. The Chargers will host the game at 3pm.
