Janea Brannen Commits to Cal State San Bernardino

CYPRESS, CA- Standout Cypress College softball player, Janea Brannen, will be taking her talents to the next level as she has committed to California State University San Bernardino. Janea Brannen has had a successful two-year career with the Chargers where she did damage both in the batter's box and in the pitching circle.

In her freshman season, Brannen was selected as the OEC pitcher of the year. She pitched 187 innings in 38 games while posting an ERA of 2.24. Brannen struck out 130 batters finishing the season with 19 wins. At the plate, Brannen hit for a .373 average leading the team in homeruns (4), RBI's (39), and doubles (11). After an outstanding freshman season, Brannen earned a First-Team All-State selection.

In her second season with the Chargers Brannen picked up where she left off in 2019. When the season was cut short after 18 games, Brannen was batting .388 and leading the team in RBI's (20), homeruns (1), and doubles (5) yet again. In the pitching circle, she was on pace to enter her name in the top 5 in both the single-season and all-time strikeout record book. Brannen pitched in 13 of the 18 games in 2020 posting a 1.45 ERA and striking out 34 batters. Her most dominant performance of 2020 came against the #1 ranked Mt. SAC Mounties.
