Chargers Shutout Dons, 2-0

Chargers Shutout Dons, 2-0

CYPRESS, CA- Cypress College softball (9-0, 4-0 OEC) continued their win streak and took home another victory on Tuesday afternoon. Cypress hosted Santa Ana (7-5, 1-3 OEC) at Charger Field and won in a shutout, 2-0.

The Chargers used small ball to beat the Dons in their 4th OEC matchup of the year. The high powered Cypress offense seemed to come out hot in the first inning when Maddie Bogdanovich hit a fly ball to left field to bring in the first run of the game. Santa Ana pitcher, Emily Rosas, slowed down one of the hottest offenses in the state when she came into relief in the third inning.  The Chargers offense stalled with the bases loaded and ended the third inning up, 2-0. Cypress pitcher, Eliza Sandoval, started in the circle for the Chargers. A combination of her and Janea Brannen shutdown the Dons as they switched off pitching throughout the game. Sandoval threw a combined 3 innings, and Brannen closed out the game for the Chargers striking out five in four total innings pitched.

Up Next: Cypress will play tomorrow, February 26th, at Charger Field. They will host Riverside (4-10, 0-2 OEC) first pitch will be at 3:00PM.
