COSTA MESA, CA - The Cypress College softball team won their fifth consecutive Orange Empire Conference Title, finishing the regular season 34-6 overall and 20-1 in the OEC. All-Conference teams were announced Thursday at the OEC coaches meeting, recognizing seven Chargers with OEC honors.
Freshman pitcher Janea Brannen was selected OEC Pitcher of the Year, leading the conference with 19 wins in the circle this season. Brannen also posted 113 strikeouts and a 2.07 ERA this season. At the plate, Brannen hit for .373 AVG, leading the Chargers with 35 RBI, 10 doubles, and 4 home runs on her way to an All-State Team selection.
Freshman infielder Lesley Bojorquez was selected OEC Defensive Player of the Year. Bojorquez started all of the Chargers' 40 games this season at shortstop, while making zero errors. She led the Chargers at the plate with 53 hits and a .424 AVG on the way to an All-OEC First Team and All-State Team selection.
Sophomore outfielder Gabrielle Munoz earned All-OEC First Team and All-SoCal Team honors, while teammate Eliza Sandoval was selected to the All-OEC First Team and Amanda Campos was selected to the All-OEC Second Team.
Kimberly MacPherson and Vanessa Ayala were selected All-OEC Honorable Mentions.
