Cypress Softball Coaching Staff Named NFCA Cal JC National Coaching Staff of the Year

By Wes McCurtis

LOUISVILLE, KY – The Cypress College softball coaching staff has been named the National Fastpitch Association's (NFCA) Cal JC National Coaching Staff of the Year.

Head coach Brad Pickler, along with assistant coaches, Kevin Monahan, Alyssa Gutierrez, Victoria Castillo, and team manager Chris Brown guided the Chargers to the first undefeated state championship season in CCCAA history with an overall record of 48-0. The Chargers edged Mt. San Antonio 1-0 in a wild walk-off win to claim their ninth overall state title, all coming in Picklers tenure as head coach.

This award salutes the efforts of coaches from the various NFCA membership categories for their dedication to the sport of softball and to the continued education, growth, and development of young women, both on and off the playing field. The winners were nominated by NFCA member coaches and selected by a panel of their peers on the NFCA Awards Committee.

Coach Pickler and his staff will be formally recognized at the 2017 NFCA Convention in Las Vegas, NV in December.
