Sophomore Melanie Okazaki has earned Charger of the Week (May 1-7) after leading the softball team to a sweep of Allan Hancock College in their Southern California Regional matchup this past weekend.

Okazaki went 1-for-3 in Game one and scored twice in the Chargers 5-2 win over Allan Hancock. She managed to steal two bases which allowed her to get in scoring position. In Game two Okazaki was 4-for-4 while driving in three runs and scoring three times in the Chargers 9-8 win over Allan Hancock. She had four extra base hits which consisted of two doubles and two triples and she drove in what would be the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The First Team All-OEC selection and All-State selection is the third member of the softball team to receive Charger of the Week this season.
