Freshman men's tennis standout Alex Hagon was awarded his first Charger of the Week this season during Wednesday's practice.

Hagon helped lead Cypress to two huge Orange Empire Conference victories over Fullerton College and defending state champion Irvine Valley College last week. Both were 9-0 victories for the Chargers, moving them into the second spot in the OEC standings.

Hagon, who came to Cypress from the UK, is the team's #1 singles player and a member of the #1 doubles team. He went 2-0 in last week's doubles matches and overcame a first set loss to IVC's Michael Bott, before coming back to win in three sets (2-6, 6-4, 14-12).

Men's tennis is currently ranked fifth in the ITA Southern California rankings and will look to continue a state title push this season.
