CYPRESS, CA – Cypress College men's tennis standout Maximilien Blancaneaux signed his national letter of intent to Boise State University, where he will join the Broncos for the 2018 season, on Wednesday.

"The guy is the real deal. I love his passion you know and that's stirred by his purpose. He's the perfect team guy and one of the top JuCo players in the country," said Boise State Head Coach Greg Patton. "Academically the guy is a rock star. His grades have been perfect the last two years and we feel that adding max to our team is going to help our program get where we want to be. He brings heart and has that fight to him."

Blancaneaux helped first year Head Coach Jeff Benito bring the Cypress College tennis program back to the forefront of community college tennis last season. "I think for the moment the best choice I've made in my life has been coming to Cypress because that changed everything. The training was ten times better here and the coaches do a great job," said Blancaneaux.

The 2017 Orange Empire Conference Player of the Year finished the season as the No. 2 ranked singles player in the state. Blancaneaux and his doubles partner, Vincent Reynaud, finished the season with a No. 3 ITA ranking. The sophomore from France also got the job done in the classroom, earning the Scholar Athlete Award for achieving a 3.5 GPA or higher.

"Maximilien is probably one of the best tennis players to have come through Cypress College in a long time," said Coach Benito. "I am so incredibly proud of this young man and I do not have enough words to express my gratitude to him for all the work he's done on court and in the classroom and to buying into our program. Max exemplified Charger Tennis and really put in all effort to help us be our best."

Blancaneaux plans to major in Kinesiology and eventually get his master's degree while pursuing a career in coaching.
