No. 3 Chargers Set to Host Glendale in Return to Postseason

By Wes McCurtis

CYPRESS, Calif. – The Cypress College men's tennis team (16-6, 8-2 OEC) has received an at large berth in the 2017 CCCAA Southern California Regional Men's Tennis Playoffs. The Chargers will enter the postseason as a No. 3 seed and host fifth seeded Glendale College in the opening round on Tuesday, April 11 at 2:00 p.m.

The Chargers' men's tennis program finds itself back in the postseason for the first time since 2011 under first year head coach Jeff Benito. "I am beyond proud of these young gentlemen who have come in and helped me bring back the level of Cypress College men's tennis. This team has worked hard on the court and off. They've really come together as a team and have one of the best chemistries I've had the pleasure of coaching," said Coach Benito. "I can truly say that this is the best team Cypress has had to date. The Chargers haven't been to the playoffs since 2011 and this team has the ability to win the whole thing. If you haven't seen these guys play come out and watch."

Cypress capped off the regular season with a 2nd place finish in the Orange Empire Conference. Draws for Tuesday's match against Glendale can be seen below.
