Pair of Cypress Swimmers Qualify for CCCAA State Championships

MISSION VIEJO, CA – The Orange Empire Conference Swim and Dive Championships took place at Saddleback College over a three-day period where swimmers, Meghan Efseaff and Weston Spoon, qualified for the CCCAA State Championships. Andrew Cabrera was crowned Orange Empire Conference Champion in the 100-fly.

Efseaff, who swam in five events for the Chargers, set a new Cypress College swim record for the 100-backstroke with a time of 1:01.10 and a second place finish. Efseaff placed in the 50-free (3rd place) and the 100-fly (3rd place), qualifying her for a State Championship spot in all three events.

Spoon, who swam in four events for the Chargers, will qualify for two events, the 200-backstroke and 100-backstroke. Spoon set a new Cypress College swim record for the 200-backstroke with a time of 1:58.80 and a second place finish.

Swimmers are set for their run at being crowned State Champions beginning Thursday, May 2. The meet will take place Thursday-Saturday at De Anza College in Cupertino, CA.
