Chargers Swim & Dive Take home 4th and 5th Place Finishes

BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Cypress College swim and dive team traveled to Bakersfield for the 2019 Cuesta Invitational last weekend.

The men's swim and dive team competed in the Cuesta Invitational where they combined for 231 team points to take 5th place out of 11 teams. Individually, Kyle Cabotaje earned the most points for the Chargers with 61 points. Cabotaje swam in five events: 50-yard breast (9th), 200-yard breast (6th), 200-yard IM (9th), 400-yard IM (2nd) and 100-yard IM (6th). His teammate, Andrew Cabrera earned the second most points for the Chargers with 53. Cabrera also swam in five events: 100-yard Free (11th), 200-yard IM (4th), 100-yard Back (9th), 100-yard Fly (6th) and 50-yard Free (8th).

The women's swim and dive team also competed in the Cuesta Invitational where they combined for 246 points to take 4th place out of 11 teams. Megan Efseaff earned three 1st place finishes out of the four races she swam, totaling 77 points for the Chargers. Efseaff competed in the 100-yard Free (2nd), 200-yard Fly (1st), 100-yard Back (1st) and 50-yard Free (1st). Hanna Kemp also put points on the board for the Chargers with 41 points. Kemp swam in five events: 50-yard Breast (7th), 200-yard Breast (10th), 200-yard IM (14th), 100-yard IM (6th) and 100-yard Breast (11th).

The men and women combined for a 5th place finish, totaling 477 points. The Chargers take to the pool Friday, March 22 at an Orange Empire Conference swim meet @ 10:00am.
