Chargers Hold Their Own at OEC Invite

RIVERSIDE, CA - The Cypress College men's swim and dive team finished 5th finish overall, ahead of Fullerton and Santa Ana College, with a total of 190 points at the Orange Empire Conference Invitational hosted by Riverside City College on Friday.

Sophomore Tim Efseaff surprised the competition with a 2nd place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (57.59). Fellow sophomore Takumi Ameku finished 3rd with a time of 57.60.

Freshman Weston Spoon scored 27 points for the Chargers, placing 5th in the 200-yard backstroke. Spoon led the freshman with two top-ten finishes, in total the freshman scored five top-ten finishes in the meet.

With less than a month until the Orange Empire Conference Championships, the Chargers are beginning to hone in on their specialty events, which will hopefully lead to some amazing swims and state qualifying cut times.

The next meet will be the Pasadena Invitational on April 6th and 7th at Pasadena City College.
