CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against district-rival Fullerton College on Friday afternoon in Orange Empire Conference play.
After a scoreless first half where both teams traded opportunities, Fullerton struck first in the 57th minute. However, the Chargers responded with relentless pressure, outshooting the Hornets 13-9 and earning five second-half corner kicks. Their persistence paid off in the 81st minute, as Jesse Gonzalez netted the equalizer with help from Joaquin Araneda to level the match at 1-1.
Cypress goalkeeper Demian Baldovinos anchored the backline with four saves.
The draw moves Cypress to 5-1-3 overall and 1-0-1 in conference, while Fullerton now sits at 2-4-3 and 1-0-1 in OEC play. The Chargers will look to build on their strong defensive performance as they continue their conference schedule against Irvine Valley.
