Cypress Chargers Men’s Soccer: Full Steam Ahead
Chargers Return Key Playmakers After Historic First Playoff Win
CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College Men's Soccer team is ready to build on the momentum from last season, where they secured their first playoff win in program history with a thrilling victory over Santa Ana. The Chargers also battled through one of the most competitive conferences in the state, finishing fourth in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC).
Leading the way are returning sophomores Issac Morales and Frank Troya, both of whom earned All-OEC First Team honors as freshmen. Morales proved to be a standout, finishing first in the conference in shots, fourth in assists, and third in the state in total shots. He will be joined by Alex Gomez, who earned All-OEC Second Team honors, along with a strong returning core that includes three of last season's top five goal scorers. With a roster full of playmakers who know how to generate offense, the Chargers are poised for an exciting season.
Head Coach Christian Rus, entering his seventh season, continues to elevate the program. After guiding the team to its first playoff berth in over a decade and its first postseason win, Rus and his squad are hungrier than ever to push deeper into the playoffs and compete for a championship. Last year, Cypress finished with an overall record of 8-7-8, but expectations are higher than ever heading into 2025.
