Rafter Shoots 3 Under Par to Lead Chargers in Tournament Victory

YORBA LINDA, Calif. - The Cypress College men's golf team contlinued their late hot streak with a 1st place finish amongst its conference rivals at Black Gold Golf Course (Par 72) on Wednesday afternoon.

The Chargers shot 375 as a team, led by freshman medalist Matthew Rafter, who fired a three under par 69.  Rafter was five under going into the 16th hole.  Freshman Andreus Thanning followed with a 75 and George Bris finished with a 76 to assist in the victory.

"When Matt plays well there is no one better, and anytime you can have a guy shoot that low it helps out tremendously and compensates for other inconsistent scores,"said Coach Dana Bedard.

The victory is the 3rd tournament win of the season for the Chargers, which elevates them to just 1 point out of first place in the Orange Empire Conference with 5 matches remaining."If I can get all six guys shooting their best, I think we are the best team in the conference. We just need a couple of our guys to play more consistently."

The Chargers next match is hosted by Orange Coast on Wednesday, April 12 at Costa Mesa Country Club.
