Cypress Baseball Caps Historic Season with State Tournament Final Four Appearance
Chargers Wrap Up Season at State
CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College baseball team capped an incredible 2025 campaign with a deep run at the 3C2A State Championship Tournament, held May 24–26 at Mt. San Antonio College. Entering as the South's No. 2 seed, the Chargers battled their way to the Final Four, ultimately finishing among the top four programs in the state.
In Game 1 of the double-elimination tournament, Cypress (39-12) faced a tough matchup against the North's top-seeded West Valley College Vikings (40-12). Despite a strong effort from sophomore pitcher Tommy McGuire and a solo home run from Justin Tillar, the Chargers fell in a narrow 3-2 loss. Cypress collected 10 hits in the game, with Bradley Navarro going 3-for-4 with an RBI, but the Vikings edged ahead with a late balk that brought in the winning run.
Bouncing back the following morning, the Chargers squared off against the North's No. 2 Sierra College. Cypress delivered a composed and efficient performance, defeating the Wolverines 5-2 behind a clutch outing from starter Brandon Wyland (9-2), who went six strong innings. Bradley Navarro once again paced the offense, driving in two runs on a 3-hit day, while Braden Ruiz tripled and brought in a run.
The Chargers advanced to a rematch with West Valley that evening where the Vikings defeated Cypress 16-4 to eliminate the South runner-up from title contention. Despite 11 hits, including RBI from Navarro, Ruiz, and Evan Rolbiecki, defensive miscues and a 6-run seventh inning by West Valley proved too much to overcome.
