BASEBALL: Eight Chargers Earn All-OEC Recognition

IRVINE, CA - The Cypress College baseball team finished the regular season 27-13 overall and 11-10 in the Orange Empire Conference. All-Conference teams were announced Monday at the OEC coaches meeting, recognizing eight Chargers with All-OEC honors.

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Adrian Chaidez was selected to the All-OEC first team starting pitchers. Chaidez started in 10 games on the mound this season for the Chargers, recording 7 wins and 1 loss. He collected 66 strikeouts and posted a 3.33 ERA.

Freshman infielder Mariano Ricciardi was selected to the All-OEC first team infielders. Ricciardi played in 35 games this season for the Chargers at second base, recording a .967 fielding percentage. At the plate this season, Ricciardi hit for a .319 AVG and totaled 13 RBI.

Sophomore outfielder Jesse Lopez was selected to the All-OEC first team outfielders. Lopez played in 37 games this season for the Chargers in center field. He led the Chargers in all of the major hitting categories (Min. 75 at-bats), with a .384 AVG, 53 hits, 35 RBI, and 6 home runs.

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Reid Sebby was selected to the All-OEC second team pitchers. Sebby got the start in the 10 games on the mound this season for the Chargers, recording 5 wins and 3 losses.  He struck out 40 batters and posted a 4.14 ERA.

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Eric Chavarria was selected to the All-OEC second team pitchers. Chavarria go the start in 10 games on the mound for the Chargers this season, recording 7 wins and 3 losses. He led the Chargers' pitching staff with 2 saves on the year, while striking out 44 batters and posting a 4.55 ERA.

Sophomore catcher Eric Bigani was selected to the All-OEC second team catcher. Bigani played in 36 games this season for the Chargers behind the plate, recording a team-high 272 putouts. At the plate, he totaled 43 hits, 2 homeruns, and 32 RBI with a .307 AVG.

Freshman outfielder Hayden Winters was selected to the All-OEC second team outfielders. Winters played in 28 games this season for the Chargers as a DH and outfielder. At the plate, he recorded 21 hits, 5 homeruns, and 23 RBI with a .339 AVG.

Sophomore outfielder Isaiah Parra was selected to the All-OEC second team outfielders. Stewart played in the 38 games this season for the Chargers in the outfield and at first base. At the plate, he recorded 52 hits, 1 homerun, and 34 RBI with a .361 AVG.
