8 Chargers Earn All-OEC Honors for Beach Volleyball

CYPRESS, CA- The Cypress women's beach volleyball team was largely represented at the OEC level as eight athletes earned a spot on the All-OEC roster. Sophmores, Miranda Telles and Alexis Flores, earned first team All-OEC while Mary Hicks, Lauren Adamo, Amanda Risch, Amanda Vos, Allison Arriola, and Alyssa Hernandez earned second team.  

Miranda Telles and Alexis Flores were the number ones for Cypress as they finished with a pairs record of (4-3) on the season. In the OEC Pairs Tournament Championship, Telles and Flores faced off as the third seed in the round of 16. They took down a very talented pair from Orange Coast College 20-22, 21-15, 15-11. After advancing to the round of eight, the Cypress stars matched up against another pair from Orange Coast where they came up short in two sets 21-14 and 21-18. 

Mary Hicks was one of six Chargers represented on the All-OEC second team. Her running mate, Lauren Adamo, also earned All-Conference honors as the pair saw their season come to a close in the round of 16 at the OEC Pairs Tournament. Amanda Risch and Amanda Vos competed in the third spot for Cypress for much of the season. They finished with a record of (5-1) as they were a dominant pair all season long leading to their All-Conference selection. Allison Arriolla and Alyssa Hernandez defeated their opponents from Fullerton College in the first round of the Championship Tournament, 21-10 and 21-16.
