Freshman beach volleyball standout Kayla Owens was awarded her first career Charger of the Week Award before Wednesday's practice.

Owens helped lead the Chargers to a 2-1 performance during last week's triple-header at the Granada Courts in Long Beach. Cypress defeated Orange Coast and Mt. SAC before falling to Long Beach City last Friday.

The Santa Fe High School alumna anchored the Chargers' number one tandem, who also went 2-1 on the week. Owens and Wilder defeated OCC and Mt. SAC before falling to No. 1 LBCC on their home court in a competitive match.
