The Warriors Win Both Beach Volleyball Double Headers

TORRANCE, Calif. – The Warriors hosted Victor Valley College and Cypress College Friday, defeating both teams. The Warriors beat Rams 5-0 and the Chargers 4-1. The Warriors continue their season at 4-0.

The Warriors started off strong against the Rams. No. 1 pair Michelle Shimamoto and Micah Hammond won 21-3, 21-11. No. 2 pair Taylor Brydon and Brooklyn Rubio won 21-6, 21-2. No. 3 pair Victoria Curtice and Megan Lim won 21-6, 21-5. No. 4 pair Aiko Waters and Kiana Takahasi won 21-6, 21-5. No. 5 pair Nina Wyer and Melissa Euyoque won by forfeit. The Warriors defeated the Rams 5-0.

The Warriors continued their momentum through the afternoon defeating the Chargers 4-1. No. 1 pair Michelle Shimamoto and Micah Hammond won after three sets 21-13, 19-21, 15-8. No. 2 pair Taylor Brydon and Brooklyn Rubio won 21-13, 21-10. No. 3 pair Victoria Curtice and Megan Lim won 21-19, 21-18. No. 4 pair Aiko Waters and Kiana Takahasi won 21-8, 21-11. No. 5 pair Cassie Montani and Jolene St. Pierre lost their match, 16-21, 21-19, 7-15.

Coach LeValley Pattinson commented, "Victor Valley was very inexperienced. This is their first year and they got better every match. Cypress was good. Teams 1-4 won, with team 5 going to three. Micah and Michelle went three and won. I felt like there was a lot of improvement this week. We worked hard on defense and it showed."

The Warriors play Orange Coast College on Wednesday at 2.
