Pirates shut down Chargers, 9-0
CYPRESS -- It was another dominating performance by the Orange Coast College women's team as the Pirates rolled past host Cypress, 9-0, on Tuesday, in an Orange Empire Conference matchup.
Just how convincing was Tuesday's performance for the undefeated Pirates (8-0)? Out of 106 games played between the two teams on Tuesday, Coast won 96 of them.
Straight-sets wins went across the board for OCC, including Nicole Knickerbocker (6-0, 6-1), Shayee Sherif (6-1, 6-1), Jade Moreno (6-1, 6-0), Madeleine Veltri (6-1, 6-0), Faith Moreno (6-2, 6-2) and Jocelynn Timmer (6-0, 6-0).
It was more of the same in doubles play with the Pirate wins coming from Knickerbocker/Veltri (8-0), Sherif/J. Moreno (8-0) and F. Moreno/Timmer (8-1).
The same two teams will go at it again on Thursday, at OCC, beginning at 2 p.m.
