Nearly two weeks since their last contest, the Hornets remained undefeated holding off district rival Cypress College 3-2 (27-29, 28-26, 25-22, 17-25, 15-11) on Friday night.
The conference opening road win gives FC (No. 4 in the state) an overall record of 8-0 and an Orange Empire Conference record of 1-0 while the Chargers (No. 18) step back to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in conference.
The Hornet's Madalene Barrett led all players with 32 kills and 27 digs. Alanna Hayhurst chipped in with 14 kills with 21 digs while Angelina Ruiz had 24 assists and 4 digs. Celeste Snider contributed 31 digs.
