Women’s tennis still battling

The Saddleback women's tennis team dropped a match to Cypress College, 7-2, on Tuesday at the Saddleback Tennis Center.  The team won two of three matches played.

Saddleback has been shorthanded all season and played its best tennis on Tuesday.  With only two players available, the team of Sumari Kritzinger and Alexa Berg defeated the Cypress duo of Jayda Steele and Victoria Gomes, 8-2, in doubles play.

Saddleback then won 1-of-2 singles matches.  Kritzinger was a 6-4, 6-1 winner over Steele while Berg fell 4-6, 1-6 to Gomes.

Given the short roster, Saddleback was forced to forfeit the other six matches of the day.  Despite impossible odds, they continue to work hard and battle.

"I'm proud of the way they have competed," head coach Jay Amos said.  "They show up every day and give it everything they have."

Saddleback will be back on the courts at Cypress on Thursday.  Match time is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
