In a game where the Hornets were not favored to win, Fullerton rose to the occasion and out-shot Cypress College 64-50 at home Wednesday night in a conference match-up.
The Hornet win gives them an overall record of 6-17 and an Orange Empire Conference record of 2-6. The loss knocks Cypress back a notch at 14-11 overall and 5-3 in the OEC.
In the first half, FC shot 40% from the floor to Cypress' 25% giving the Hornets a 30-23 lead heading into the second half.
The second half was all Fullerton as they held a healthy lead over the Chargers shooting 52% to Cypress' 29%. Their biggest lead was 18 points with 3:58 left in the game.
The Fullerton win ties up the season series and avenges the previous loss at Cypress back on January 10th when the Chargers trounced the Hornets 74-37.
FC's Andrya Ventura scored a game-high 15 points, with 8 rebounds, and 3 steals. Tatiana Scott and Carla Castaneda each scored 13 points. Scott also dished out 6 assists. Noelle Cobb chipped in with 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Yana Pollard just missed a double-double with 8 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 blocked shots.
