Four PCAC teams make the MBB field

The California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) announced the field for the 2022 CCCAA Men's State Basketball Tournament and four programs from the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference were included.  It is the most PCAC programs to make the field since the conference had two divisions and 12 teams.

San Diego City College was the champions of the PCAC and took home the No. 4 seed for the regional tournament.  The Knights finished 25-3 overall and were perfect in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play at 16-0.  San Diego City has a bye in the opening round of the tournament on Tuesday before hosting the winner of Irvine Valley College (18-10) and Long Beach City College (17-11), who play on Tuesday. 

Palomar College finished in a three-way tie for second place in the conference and earned the No. 14 seed for the tournament.  The Comets finished 18-10 overall and 10-6 in PCAC play.  Palomar will host Cypress College (16-12) in an opening round game on Tuesday, with the winner moving on to face San Bernardino Valley College (23-5) on Thursday.

San Diego Miramar College will also play at home when they host Saddleback College (17-11) to open the playoffs on Tuesday.  The Jets were 18-10 overall and 10-6 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play.  The winner of the game will travel to West Los Angeles College (25-3) on Thursday. 

MiraCosta College made the field of 22 as they earned the No. 21 seed for the tournament.  The Spartans finished 14-14 overall and 10-6 in PCAC play during the regular season.  MiraCosta will travel to Cerro Coso College (22-6) for the opening round on Tuesday.  The winner will travel to Santiago Canyon College (22-5) on Thursday.
