BASEBALL: FC OUTDONE BY CHARGERS

BASEBALL: FC OUTDONE BY CHARGERS

The FC baseball team welcomed district-rival Cypress College to Hornet Field on Tuesday to kick off a four-game series and then fell in another rough outing 13-4.

Fullerton did not get off on the right foot giving up ten runs in the top of the first inning. With a long road back to recovery, the ten-run margin was just too much to spot the Chargers.

FC did try and get back in the game, scoring a run in the second, two runs in the fourth, and a run in the sixth to cut the lead down to six, but the Chargers put the game on ice in the seventh scoring three runs on Hornet errors.

Reliever Bryce Barnett came in to throw in the second inning and did a commendable job for FC going 5.1 innings with 3 hits against, no earned runs, 1 walk, and 4 strikeouts. Ryan Flores (1.2 innings) and Adam Armstrong (1 inning) were solid in relief allowing 2 hits apiece and no earned runs.

Cypress pitcher Brett Garcia (3-1) took the win going 5.2 innings with 4 hits against, 3 earned runs, and 4 K's.

Up Next: The Hornets (3-14 overall, 1-12 OEC) will look to bounce back when they do it all over again at home for game two this Thursday, May 13th at 2:00 pm. Watch the live broadcast on the FullCollSports YouTube Channel.
