MEN’S WATER POLO: ENDING THE SEASON ON A HIGH NOTE

The Hornets ended their season at the Orange Empire Conference Tournament held at Golden West College over the weekend.

In the opening game on Thursday in the Golden West College pool, Fullerton took on Saddleback College and lost 12-6.

On Saturday, Fullerton earned a 15-7 win against Cypress College ending their season above the .500 mark with a record of 14-13.

Things started off with a bang for FC as they were propelled to a quick lead in the first quarter thanks to Niko Vaccher's early goals. Aiden Davis and Matthew Nguyen each netted a goal as well. The quarter would end with Fullerton leading the Chargers 6-4.

Defense dominated the second quarter for the Hornets. They completely shut down the Chargers offense and prevented them from adding to their goal total. Vaccher refused to let off the gas by adding two more goals and Andy Weske capped off a dominant quarter with a goal of his own.

The second half of the game continued to be Fullerton taking the reigns as they would add to their lead for the third consecutive quarter by conceding just one goal and adding four more to their total, bringing the score to 13-5. Vaccher added two more goals and Weske, Christian Hohbein, and Michael Davidson all netted one each.

By the time the fourth quarter rolled around, FC just needed to hold down the Chargers and lock in the much deserved win. They did that by matching Cypress with two goals each to end the game. This time it was once again Hohbein scoring, while Chris Hwang added himself to the goal scoring barrage.

The season would prove to be a fight for Fullerton as they battled injuries throughout the fall, forcing them to bend over backwards to finish off the year on a high note.
