The Panthers were on the road yesterday for a grey, cold day of baseball against one of Southern California's Top 10 programs.
At Cypress, the Panthers were down 5-0 after six innings and things were not looking good for the Chaffey squad. In the top of the 7th though, a bases loaded error put the Panthers on the board. With bases still loaded and only one out, Zach Kim singled to bring Clay Porter in. Another opportunity to advance came and Christian Mosqueda stole home to close the gap to 5-3.
In the 8th, now down by four, Porter was hit with bases loaded and Damian Hernandez (who was also HBP to get on base) came home. Up next, Mosqueda knocked a fielder's choice bringing in Steven Mara. Aaron Whobrey singled for two RBIs to tie it up 7-7. The ninth remained scoreless for both teams.
Chaffey looked to take the game with a 10th inning error by Cypress that put the Panthers in the lead 9-8 but with two outs on the board for the Chargers, a two RBI single gave Cypress the walkoff win.
The Panthers resume competition later this week with a 2-day trip to Santa Barbara, playing Friday and Saturday against the Vaqueros.
