Cypress Charger Alum, Tommy Nance, Supports Toronto Blue Jays Push to the World Series
The former Chargers relief pitcher contributed greatly to the World Series berth that the Toronto Blue Jays have been granted
CYPRESS, CA - Former Cypress College relief pitcher, Tommy Nance, has been a bullpen asset to the Toronto Blue Jays 2025 postseason run. The Blue Jays eliminated the New York Yankees three games to one before defeating the Seattle Mariners in a 7-game series, advancing them to the 2025 World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Nance will look to become the second Charger baseball alum to win a World Series, joining Jason Vargas who won in 2015 as a member of the Kansas City Royals.
Nance enters the 2025 World Series with a 2-0 record on the mound and a 1.99 ERA with 32 strikeouts in 30 appearances during the 2025 season. Nance has tossed 0.2 innings for the Blue Jays so far this postseason.
As a Charger, Nance attained a 5-2 record during the 2011 season. He played a key role in their playoff push, throwing a complete game and giving up only one run on 157 pitches.Nance would conclude his collegiate career as a Santa Clara Bronco, finishing his senior year with the lowest ERA on the squad (3.60). He racked up 41 strikeouts on the season. One of his standout performances was against Stanford where he pitched nine innings and tallied six strikeouts.
Nance joins a long line of Charger Athletes to represent Cypress College and 3C2A student-athletes on the world's biggest stage.
