CYPRESS, CA - Cypress women's basketball point guard, Ashley Hawkins, has been awarded Charger of the Week for her excellent play in the Merced Tournament.
The Chargers women's basketball team has started off to a successful start to the season with an overall record of 3-1. Entering the three game tournament at Merced College, Cypress dropped the first game and bounced back to win the next two.
On the last day of the tournament, Cypress faced off against the Laney Eagles. Sophomore, Ashley Hawkins, led the team by scoring half of the Chargers total 76 points. Hawkins' 38 points gave Cypress their second win of the tournament in their eight point victory. For her efforts and success, she was selected to the All Tournament Team at the Merced College Tourney.
