    CYPRESS, CA - The Cypress College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted a panel of industry leaders to discuss mental health topics and strategies for helping student athletes who may be struggling. 
  • Dakota Nering and Jayda Steele Nominated for 2021 OEC NevCo Character Champion Award

    The Orange Empire Conference (OEC) has nominated Cypress College men's soccer, Dakota Nering, and women's tennis athlete, Jayda Steele, as the recipients for the 2021 Nevco Character Champion Award. Each year, the OEC names one male and one female student-athlete from each member of every OEC college to the Nevco Character Champion Team, while naming two top winners of the Nevco Character Championship Award. This award is given to the student-athletes who display the following values; sportsmanship, respect, caring, fairness, civility, honesty, integrity, and responsibility shown through a specific action, ideally directed toward an opponent during competition.
  • Spring I Sports Reach the Finish Line

    The Chargers returned to action this season beginning on March 24th when women's basketball hosted Golden West College for the first Cypress athletic event in over a year. With no competition in the fall of 2020 the CCCAA ruled to create a Spring I and Spring II season. For Cypress Athletics, the Spring I season would consist of seven sports; men's and women's basketball, men's and women's water polo, men's and women's soccer, and women's volleyball. Each season was far from normal for each sport, but our coaches and staff were overjoyed to have an opportunity that allowed our student athletes to compete and return to competition to bring a glimpse of normalcy to their physical and mental health.

    After five years as Athletic Director at El Camino College, Colin has accepted the interim Dean of Kinesiology & Athletics role at Cypress College. Originally from Modesto, CA, Colin grew up playing soccer and was an avid sports competitor. As our new Dean of Kinesiology & Athletics, Colin is ready to make an impact on our student-athletes academically and support our athletic programs at Cypress.

  • Cypress College Will Opt-In for Spring Competition

    CYPRESS, CA - Cypress College Athletics has made the decision to opt-in for both Spring I and Spring II competition in 2021, providing an opportunity for student athletes to compete in each of the college's 14 sports during the California Community College Athletic Association's modified season.
