Charger Win Streak Ends with Loss at Riverside, 10-3

RIVERSIDE, CA - The Cypress College women's water polo team (8-4, 1-3 OEC) saw their five game win streak come to an abrupt end with a loss at Riverside City College (10-4, 3-0 OEC) on Wednesday, 10-3.

The Tigers opened up the scoring in the first minute of play, but the Chargers were quick to even the score at 1-1. The first goal for the Chargers came from Natasha Velez with an assist from Josie Miller. The Tigers would take the next two points, giving them a 3-1 lead over the Chargers. A goal at the end of the quarter from freshman driver, Jade Towgood, would close the gap for the Chargers ending the first quarter trailing, 3-2.  

Riverside controlled the remainder of the game, outscoring Cypress in the second quarter, 2-0, and the third quarter, 3-0. Velez put an end to the two quarter draught for the Chargers, adding her second goal of the game in the final frame. However, Riverside would net two more goals on the Charger defense, ending the quarter and game, 10-3 in favor of the Tigers.

Women's water polo is set to complete thier regular season OEC schedule on the road against the Gauchos of Saddleback College on Wednesday, October 17th at 3:00pm.
