WALNUT, CA – The Cypress College women's water polo team (3-3, 0-2 OEC) moved to .500 on the season with a 3-1 performance at the Mt. SAC Water Polo Classic over the weekend.

The Chargers began the weekend with wins over Grossmont and Palomar on Friday. Cypress knocked off the Grossmont Griffins 7-5 to open up the tournament, led by 4 goals and 6 steals from Josie Miller. The Chargers followed that up with a 12-6 victory over the Palomar Comets, this time it was Natasha Velez leading the way with 7 goals, 8 steals, and 2 assists.

Cypress returned to the pool on Saturday where they picked up another win over Fresno, 12-8. Again, it was Velez leading the way with 6 goals and 2 steals. The Chargers came up short in their final game of the tournament against host Mt. SAC, 17-10. Cypress trailed the Mounties by just a point heading into the final quarter, but Mt. SAC would pull away, outscoring the Chargers 7-1 in the fourth quarter to prevent Cypress from going undefeated in the tournament.
