CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College women's water polo team opened up the season with back-to-back wins at home on Saturday under first year Head Coach Mark Canner. The Chargers began the day with a 9-5 victory over Ventura College before an exciting 14-6 win over East Los Angeles.

Freshman Natasha Velez totaled 8 goals on the day, 4 goals in each game, to lead the Chargers. Velez also added 7 steals. Sophomore Joana Marquez chipped in with 6 goals of her own, including a team leading 5 goals against the East LA Huskies.

Women's water polo will return to action in their Orange Empire Conference opener at Golden West College on Wednesday, September 13 at 3:00 pm.
