Women's Water Polo Begins OEC Play

CYPRESS, CA - The water polo team (1-2) began the season with a two game tournament at home against East Los Angeles College and Ventura College. The Chargers dominated the first game against East Los Angeles College 11-4. Cypress encountered much stronger opposition and fell to Ventura College 15-4 in game two of the tournament.

The Chargers opened league play at home on Wednesday, September 14 with a 16-3 loss to Golden West.

Players to watch this season are Joana Marquez, Miranda Hernandez and Ailien Nguyenly. Freshman Joana Marquez leads the Chargers with 5 goals in three games, sophomore captain Miranda Hernandez has 4 goals and 1 assist, and freshman Ailien Nguyenly has 4 goals and 1 assist so far this season.

The Chargers will continue conference play on the road at 3:00 pm against Saddleback on Wednesday, September 21.
