Water Polo Falls to Orange Coast, 8-5
Cypress – The Charger water polo team fell to Orange Coast on Wednesday afternoon, 8-5. On the season, Cypress is now 4-12 and 1-3 in Orange Empire Conference play. OCC improved to 9-6  and 2-1 in conference action.
 
Cypress opened up a 2-0 lead in the first quarter, but OCC was able to close within 2-1 at the end of the first. In the second, the Pirates tied the game at two, but a goal by Taylor Leach would put the Chargers back in the lead. An Emily Allen goal would push the Cypress lead to 4-2, but OCC scored its third goal to close within 4-3 at halftime.
 
The Pirates tied the game at four all just after the start of the third quarter and then took their first lead of the game (5-4) shortly after. The Chargers were able to tie the game at five early in the fourth quarter, but OCC would score three unanswered goals en route to victory.
Becca Stephensen had a big game in the goal as she tallied 15 saves in the match.
 
Cypress will play in the Ventura Tournament this weekend (Oct. 10-11) as its season continues.
