Cypress was strong out of the gates, opening up set one with a 14-8 lead. Two impressive kills by Tainea Allen helped extend the lead to ten points, 19-9, then eventually ending the set with a score of 25-13. The dominant play from the Chargers continued right into set two as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead behind the serving of Vanila Pulu-Suliafu. An ace by Tainea Allen stretched the lead to six followed by a powerful kill from Kaelie Tulette. Riverside was forced to call a timeout as the Chargers held an 11 point lead at 17-6. The timeout was unable to slow the Chargers, though, as Mikayla Curry took over with a flurry of kills and a block to help the team finish the set with a commanding victory, 25-11. The Tigers refused to go down easily and battled the Chargers back and forth in set three, eventually tying it at 12 points a piece. The Chargers held strong and never trailed, even weathering a four point run by the Tigers late in the set. This gave the team what they needed to finish the set, and the game 25-23.
