Ashley Corona Earns Charger of the Week (Oct. 22-28)

Freshman women's volleyball standout, Ashley Corona, earned her first career Charger of the Week Award during Thursday's practice. Corona is the second member of the women's volleyball team to earn the award this season.

The freshman libero helped lead the Chargers to a huge four-set road win over Riverside City College on Friday (25-22, 24-26, 25-20, 29-27). Corona, whose role has steadily increased since the start of the season, set new career-highs in digs (21) and assists (11) against the Tigers. The Saint Joseph High School alumna currently leads the Chargers with an average of 2.64 digs per set and ranks second on the team in total digs with 174 on the year.

Cypress women's volleyball is currently ranked 19th in the state with an overall record of 14-7. The Chargers are third in the Orange Empire Conference standings with a 9-3 record in OEC play.
