No. 25 Chargers Sweep Rustlers on the Road

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – The Cypress College women's volleyball team (8-6, 3-2 OEC) had dropped four straight matches headed into their Orange Empire Conference matchup at Golden West College on Wednesday night. The No. 25 Chargers put an end to their skid with a three-set sweep over the Rustlers (25-16, 25-14, 25-12).

The Chargers put on a dominant performance, led by sophomores Kayla Owens and Jane Woodward, with help from freshman Brittany Zavala. Owens and Woodward finished the night with 8 kills each, while Owens tacked on 8 aces and 10 digs. Zavala chipped in 7 kills, 2 aces, and 3 digs.

Cypress controlled the net for the entity of the match, recording a season-high 20 total blocks, while holding the Rustlers to .000% hitting. Sophomore Khamis Berneker recorded 7 blocks, while freshman Savannah Johnson added 6 blocks on the night.

Women's volleyball is set to return to action at home on Friday, October 6 against district rival Fullerton College at 6:00 pm.
